An Introduction to Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD’s) are a collection of disorders that begin in childhood and are often noticed before a child starts school (or during their early school years). They often negatively affect emotion, learning ability, self-control, and memory. The effects of neurodevelopmental disorders tend to last for a person's entire lifetime.

This presentation will give a broad overview of the most commonly seen neurodevelopmental disorders in children, such as behavioral disorders like attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD), learning disorders, and autism. The presentation will help families, community members, and professionals working closely with children better understand these disorders and the current approaches to intervention.
