Meet Hajar Al Ali, the Foundation's New Scholarship Coordinator
Al Qasimi Foundation
March 31, 2013
The Al Qasimi Foundation was pleased to welcome Hajar Al Ali when she joined the team at the beginning of the year to serve as the new Student Scholarship Coordinator. Previously in a similar position at the Sheikh Saqr Program for Government Excellence, Hajar transitioned to the Foundation when the organization become responsible for managing the Sheikh Saqr Overseas Scholarship and Student Development Programs.
“I have really enjoyed the Foundation and staff so far,” says Hajar. “It is a new environment that offers a lot of challenging and unique experiences.”
While getting settled with the Foundation, Hajar has worked on organizing student files, coordinating English classes, and researching scholarships available to Emirati students. Going forward, she plans to focus on building relationships with students and their families as well as organizing more workshops and events. Regardless of what her current project happens to be, Hajar’s passion for encouraging students in their personal and academic development is always evident.
“I love working with students,” she says.“Being able to help the students is very rewarding and fun. Students need guidance that can help them in their lives after graduating from secondary school, and it is a privilege to help them to the best of my abilities.”
While Hajar did not study overseas herself (she holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Ajman University of Science and Technology), she will have a taste of the experience when she travels to the United States in August to conduct university site visits. The goal of the trip is to make personal connections with high quality universities and identify degree programs that could be recommended to students in the United Arab Emirates.
“I am looking forward to the trip and hope I will learn something that I can give back to the students in Ras Al Khaimah,” Hajar says.
Outside of work, Hajar is interested in history and culture (especially Korea), and enjoys working on creative projects in Photoshop. When asked to describe herself, Hajar says, “I love experiencing new and exciting things that will help to build my personality. I am a very social person.”
Hajar’s bubbly personality puts students and parents at ease and has been a wonderful addition to the Al Qasimi Foundation team. She looks forward to continuing to challenge herself and the students in the program, and hopes to encourage more students to consider studying overseas.
