Al Qasimi Foundation Named One of the Middle East's Best Think Tanks in 2013

Ras Al Khaimah's Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research was named one of the Middle East’s best think tanks in 2013 in the University of Pennsylvania's latest global think tank rankings.

The Global Go To Think Tank Index is the culmination of an eight-month process that included an international survey of more than 2,000 scholars, think tank directors, public and private donors, policy makers, and journalists from every region of the world. Together, they helped rank over 6,500 think tanks from 182 countries using a set of 18 criteria developed by the University of Pennsylvania's Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program. There are currently 6,826 think tanks globally.

This is not the Al Qasimi Foundation’s first appearance in the annual think tank index report. It was also recognized as one of the world’s top new think tanks, a special category for organizations in existence two years or less, in 2012 (#8) and 2011 (#15). While mention in the new think tank category is an honor, the Foundation’s continued presence in the report and move to the regional list is a significant accolade and testament to the quality of work being done. The Al Qasimi Foundation was one of only three organizations in the United Arab Emirates to be named to the 2013 regional list, ranked #46 out of the 50 organizations appearing on the list.
The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program has often been referred to as the “think tanks’ think tank” and seeks to help bridge the gap between knowledge and policy.

The purpose of the program’s annual rankings is to help improve the profile and performance of think tanks while highlighting the important work they do for governments and civil societies around the world. The complete 2013 Global Go To Think Tank Report is available on the University of Pennsylvania's Think Tank and Civil Societies Program website.
