21st Century Workshops Draw to a Close
04/05/2010
The very first intake of the the Al Qasimi Foundation's "21st Century
Teaching" course will come to an end on Saturday, May 8 2010.
The workshops, lead by Anna Batchelder of Bon
Education, are a project of the Foundation aimed at enabling teachers
from both public and private schools to enhance their lessons using
instructional technology. The course consists of 5 workshops that cover
the use of podcasting, blogging, digital field trips, and open source
education resources to discover how technological tools can be used to
reach out to students.
The course was launched in conjunction with the Ras Al Khaimah Teacher’s Network,
the online portal that enables all educators within Ras al Khaimah to
collaborate, share knowledge and support one another. Participants in
the course use the portal to interact, upload their homework and class
assignments and share their classroom experiences.
The workshops have been held at the American University of Ras Al
Khaimah, and have been attended by a total of 27 teachers from both
government schools and private schools, all of whom have shown a great
deal of enthusiasm and progress.
Participants who have designed the most effective lessons will have
their lessons video recorded by the Foundation and put online as
examples of teaching best practices in the region. The feedback from
participants of the course has been very positive, as a result of which
the Foundation will continue to run sessions in the next academic year.
