  • Chief Operating Officer

    Michael Capel

    Michael Capel is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Al Qasimi Foundation. He brings nearly 20 years’ experience in strategic and operational leadership for public- and private-sector organizations. Most recently he was COO of a Qatar-based multinational investment group in the consumer products, hospitality, and business services sectors. He also previously worked as a transformation consultant, helping organizations align their strategy, business processes, organization, and technology. Among his clients were private companies, government departments, non-profit organizations, and USAID-funded programs in Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan among others. Earlier in his career, he was a consultant in the United States focused on program management, business process improvement and change management, human capital, and economic and statistical analysis.

    Michael, who is a native of California, received BS and MPA degrees from Cornell University. He served as an instructor in Economic and Social Statistics, and his thesis discussed the use of statistics in employment discrimination litigation.

  • Accounts Manager

    Elena Raymunda Laspoña

    Elena Laspoña is the Accounts Manager at the Al Qasimi Foundation. A Filipino national, Elena graduated from the University of the Visayas, Cebu Philippines in March 1996 with a bachelor of science in accountancy. She worked as a bookkeeper and import/exporter-in-charge for 13 years with an international exporter and large shipbuilding company in the Philippines. Before joining the Foundation, she worked as an accountant in Aden City, Republic of Yemen. Elena maintains all financial records for the Foundation.

  • Innovation Specialist

    Saqr Almalki

    Saqr Almalki holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management (BHRM) from UAE University,and he is also a certified HR business partner from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). He began his professional human resources (HR) work with Ras Al Khaimah E-Government Authority (EGA), where he was involved in the translation of the organization’s Employee Handbook. In addition, Saqr has worked with software and technology solutions such as SAP and Sapience HR. He served as the Leader of the SAP Support Team and a multi-projects coordinator in RAK Government, providing intensive business solutions and technical consulting across Government Resources Planning.

    As an HR Officer at the Al Qasimi Foundation, Saqr leads recruitment, immigration, on boarding, and staffing processes for the organization. He also supports a number of Foundation teaching initiatives and represents the Foundation in various community events and committees.

  • Financial Accountant

    Luz Cervantes

    Luz Cervantes came to the UAE in 2012 and has more than two decades of experience in accounting and finance. She attained a bachelor’s degree in accounting and availed herself of a company scholarship to graduate with a master’s degree in management for executives from the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu, Philippines. At the same time, she was responsible for significant corporate positions. Luz worked as finance manager with a business consultancy firm in Dubai before joining Al Qasimi Foundation.

  • Human Resources Coordinator

    Katrina Gomez

    In her role as an Executive Assistant at the Al Qasimi Foundation, Katrina Gomez serves the Executive Director, Foundation guests, and staff. Katrina also supports the Foundation’s human resources function, coordinating recruitment and records management among other functions. She was awarded a Level 3 Certificate in Human Resources Practice (QCF) by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in 2017.

    Prior to her work with the Foundation, Katrina worked as an administrative assistant with a German manufacturing company in Ras Al Khaimah and as an executive secretary and document controller with a construction firm. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Eulogio "Amang" Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology in the Philippines in 2002.

  • Purchasing Officer

    Shaju Maelepuram

    As the purchasing officer of the Al Qasimi Foundation, Shaju Maelepuram conducts market research, leads procurement projects, arranges staff necessities, and oversees administrative and IT processes. Shaju joined the Foundation in July 2011 as an office assistant and assumed his current role in 2014. He brings to the team 16 years of international experience and knowledge gained from working for agencies in India and Dubai.

  • Information Technology Support

    Ibrahim Adefila

    Ibrahim Adefila joined the Al Qasimi Foundation for a five-week internship after graduating from Middlesex University, United Kingdom,with a double major in Information Technology and Business Information Systems. He currently supports the Foundation’s IT applications and infrastructure, physical and information security, and office automation tools. Originally from Osun State in Nigeria, he also holds a Master's of Business Administration (University of Bolton, United Kingdom, a degree in Applied Accounting (Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom) and an Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering (Aptech Worldwide).

    Beyond his formal studies, Ibrahim has participated in various software competitions, including the Gulf Programming Contest, and he won first place in the 2012 UAE National Software Development Trade Show.

  • Administrative Coordinator

    Glaiza Flores

    Glaiza Flores is an Administrative Assistant and receptionist at the Al Qasimi Foundation. She joined the Foundation in 2015 as a part-time administrative assistant and has been promoted to be a full-time member of the team. Glaiza offers a professional front office service to guests and callers of the Foundation and supports a variety of projects with her creative skills.

    Glaiza holds a degree in Bachelor of Science degree in biology, and completed a Professional Secretarial and Administration Skills training course in Dubai.

  • Administrative Assistant

    Amani Mobarak

    Amani Mobarak was born and raised in Ras Al Khaimah and graduated from Al Sabahiyah School in the emirate. Her role as the Administrative Assistant at the Foundation is her first professional experience, while she has also enrolled in summer campaigns, participated in first aid trainings, attended lectures, volunteered for various social affairs and health organizations, and taken the IELTS test. Amani handles reception and customer care duties at the Foundation’s office, supports student programs, and provides administrative assistance across the organization.

  • Guest Relations Officer

    Saji George

    Saji George works at the Al Qasimi Foundation in the capacity of Guest Relations Officer and driver. His main responsibilities include guest pick-ups and drop-offs, vehicle management and maintenance, and support in purchasing materials for the office. Saji offers employee and guest support to during various Foundation events. Saji brings 24 years’ of professional driving experience and has been an employee of the Foundation since 2012.

  • Office Supervisor

    Mohammed Haneefa

    Mohammed Haneefa is the Senior Office Assistant at the Al Qasimi Foundation. He is responsible for office supply and administration, facilities maintenance, catering, and guest care. He recently Haneefa received a certificate for basic management at Zabeel Institute in Ras Al Khaimah.

    Before joining the Foundation, he worked as housekeeping supervisor in Ras Al Khaimah hotel for eight years, which experience has helped him organize his team to deliver a high standard of hospitality and catering services within the Foundation.

  • Office Assistant

    Raj Vengatesan

    Raj joined the Al Qasimi Foundation in 2014 as Office Assistant, in which capacity he is responsible for facilities management, technology support, and catering. He has more than three years of experience in general maintenance at a leading cleaning service provider in the UAE.

    Helal Foyezullah

    Helal has been working at the Al Qasimi Foundation since 2011 as a Gardener.  He brings a total of nine years’ experience in general maintenance and landscaping within the UAE.

    Saturn Villamor

    Saturnina joined the Al Qasimi Foundation as an Administrative Assistant, where she supports reception, maintenance, and office administration. She is originally from Cebu, Philippines. Prior to her work with the Foundation, Saturnina worked in her home country as an enumerator. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Commerce.
