Early Childhood Education in Ras Al Khaimah: A Mixed Methods Assessment of Quality

Research on children’s early development shows that experiences in their early years are critical for later academic achievement and well-being. The positive long-term effects of high-quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) on children’s development have been well documented by several studies worldwide.

This Majlis will focus on what high-quality early childhood education centers (ECECs) look like and what are its long-term benefits on children’s development and for society. It will discuss recent research findings about the quality of ECECs in Ras Al Khaimah and offer suggestions to improve the ECE provision in the emirate.

Priti Verma is an Associate Executive Dean and Assistant Professor teaching in the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education program, at Higher Colleges of Technology, Sharjah Women’s College. She is also the Visiting Scholar at the Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research and has recently completed a research project which studied the quality of privately owned ECECs/nurseries in Ras Al Khaimah.
