Education is perhaps the single most important factor that underpins a country’s success. Ras Al Khaimah has invested heavily in developing its national talent – a commitment that has helped us realize our vast potential. The Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research represents one such strategic initiative.
The Foundation was established in 2009 as a think tank to inform Ras Al Khaimah Government policymaking and instill in our future generations an appreciation for research. For us to reach greater heights, we need to cultivate a robust culture of innovation and research. Of course, innovation starts with education, which is why the Foundation began its work focused on education policy. Over time, it has gradually expanded its reach, touching on the arts, public health, and urban development as it seeks to contribute to other areas of public policy.
Since its inception, the Foundation has established itself as an impressive complement to our local education system. It has also served as a bridge for some of the best new scholars from top international universities to discover Ras Al Khaimah and make it the focus of their research. It is a valued resource for all those who are committed to learning especially teachers and public-sector employees - by providing strategic access to continuing education and training programs to improve their knowledge and skills. An important aspect of its role is its engagement with students, with the Foundation supporting their academic and professional success.
In Ras Al Khaimah we want to create policies that are based on sound research to address relevant social issues. We want to develop local remedies, solutions, and programs to initiate change. We realize that we must continually adapt to meet the needs of Ras Al Khaimah’s vibrant, diverse, and evolving society. We must be prepared to rethink what we do and how we do it, and to be willing to explore new paths through collaboration with the best minds from around the world.
I am confident that the Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research will further its role as a model for policy development in Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE, will continue to inspire future generations about the value of research, and will remain a place of opportunity for those who wish to improve themselves. I look forward to welcoming more high-caliber, committed scholars from a range of disciplines, backgrounds and cultures to build bridges of understanding, develop our economy, and embrace a bright future together.
